Delivery Cost Calculations

Unlike some internet retailers, Ecomerchant does not have a policy of making a profit on delivery charges; we simply aim to recover our costs. We strive continually to negotiate better prices from our carriers so that we can bring you an even better deal.

Ecomerchant shipping rates are calculated depending on volume, weight and distance. Each product is given a weight and volume.

Volume is calculated as a percentage of a pallet e.g. a roll of insulation may take up 20% of a pallet. The total volume will calculate the number of pallets needed to transport all the products bought. 

Couriers charge by weight (kg) to transport products. There are some restrictions on the overall length of a product that may prohibit the use of a courier service in which case the standard default is to charge pallet rates.

When a postcode is entered at the Shopping cart our Shipping Matrix will calculate the overall volume and the overall weight, then use a lookup of area codes to get one delivery cost for transporting the pallets and one for using a courier. It will then charge the customer the cheapest option.


Shipping costs on the website relate only to delivery within the UK mainland. International deliveries, as well as deliveries to the Scottish Highlands and Islands, N. Ireland, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Channel Islands and Eire, incur higher carriage charges and are individually quoted. Please call for a quote and order by phone if you live in these areas. We apologise for the inconvenience.

We use first and second class post or courier services, selected to give you the cheapest delivery option. This excludes paints and other bulk liquids which must be shipped via courier.


Where they are in stock, we will endeavour to dispatch goods within 5 working days of receipt of order/payment. If this is not possible we will contact you.
If for any reason the goods ordered are not in stock, we will contact you to let you know what delay you might experience. If this delay is unacceptable then we will offer a full refund.

We will endeavour to meet any date stated for delivery. We will not be liable for any losses, costs, damages or expenses incurred by you or any third party arising directly or indirectly out of any failure to meet any estimated delivery date.
