  • Passivhaus Hub Expands Audience To Include Self Builders

    Andrew Pocock, Ecomerchant’s technical manager explaining passive detailing and sustainable materials to visitors at the recent Self Build exhibition.The Passivhaus Hub was created in 2011 to encourage professionals in the construction sector and client groups to learn more about passive design using sustainable materials, with Ecomerchant being a founder member sponsoring events over the last year. The Passivhaus Hub offered to construct a new display section of a building at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre (NSBRC) in Swindon to broaden the activities of the organisation, to include self builders and to support the Centre’s desire to upgrade and replace displays in their educational tour.
  • Ecomerchant and friends submit entry to BRE Passivhaus competition.

    Ecomerchant have teamed up with local designers and suppliers to formulate their designs for the “SuberHaus”. The competition is organised by the BRE who aim “to demonstrate that the Passivhaus standard can provide an affordable method of delivering ultra‐low energy social and market housing; whilst also addressing occupant wellbeing, fuel poverty, energy security and wider social and environmental issues.” © Building Research Establishment Ltd. 2011

    Our sun pipe supplier - Monodraught has installed seventeen 450mm diameter Diamond Dome sun pipes to the performance area within the Garden complex of Channel 5’s Big Brother House in Elstree. The company were were approached by Endemol who are the UK’s largest production company to provide natural daylight to the Garden room space.
