Silic8 MPL1 gritted, breathable plaster primer 7Kg
Silic8 MPL1 is a mineral based plaster primer which is designed to control many high suction backgrounds whilst still remaining vapour open.
MPL1 can also be used to consolidate problematic surfaces and substrates.
The primer’s course gritted surface provides a key for a new suitable plaster to bond to.
MPL1 has a high bond strength and is the only plaster primer on the market to be independently tested for vapour diffusion to reassure you that water vapour is not trapped in the fabric of your building.
Price is per tin
Some typical substrate types: Masonry backgrounds, magnesium silicate boards, historic or new plasters (lime, cement or gypsum), wood, and wood type boards, terracotta and some ceramic tiles and paints.
The use of Silic8 MPL1 is essential when covering old lime plasters with new.
Coverage: On an even surface 600grams will cover approximately 1m² (16kg will cover approximately 27m ²). Allow more for uneven surfaces.
Use: Stir well before use. Apply with a broad brush using short strokes and ensuring that the grit is evenly spread across the surface (see typical spread pattern below). The surface to be primed must be sound and dry. Where the surface is powdery or friable, work the primer into the affected areas with a brush and test for bond strength after 24 hours.
Ensure that surfaces not to be primed are protected, particularly glass. Wash splashes, tools and brushes with water. Do not store or use in extremes of temperatures (<5 or above 30C). If splashed on the skin wash off immediately with water. Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment; Refer to the Safety Data Sheet before use (see download link below)
The primer can be plastered after 24 hours.
Silic8 MPL1 will be suitable for most construction and renovation applications however if you have particularily difficult or problem substrates Please call and ask us for specialist advice.
